| Name | Used For..... |
|---|---|
| ActionNames | The core of my PDA use. The other software links to and feeds info into this one. This is my Calendar, appointment book, To-do list and Address/telephone Book. Everything is color coded and categorized to tell at a glance what's up without even reading the text. |
| Shadow Plan | This is my "Back off and see the forest" place. I plan projects and keep a running list here of the detailed tasks necessary to complete each project. The "next up" task in each project shows on my to-do list in ActionNames. When I completed it off ActionNames to-do list it automatically completes itself in Shadow Plan. When I first start a new project, I use MindMapping software on my PC to lay it out. The visual aspects of Mindmapping greatly enhances the planning of projects and breaking them down. After the project is Mindmapped, I export the Mindmapping text outline into Shadow Plan. This allows me to have the very best of both worlds. |
| Four.Zero | I use this to track my college class assignments and grades. It links to ActionNames To-Do lists. This allows me to put in the assignments at the beginning of the course and then forget about them. I will be reminded to get the assignments turned in on time. I don't think I could work full time and attend college full time (maintaining a 4.0 GPA) without this software assisting me. As the assignments are graded and given back to me, I enter the grade and always know exactly what my class and overall GPA is. |
| BibleReader | I love having the entire Bible at my fingertips!! I can quickly do word searches. I read the Bible MUCH more now because it is always handy. It has bookmarks to keep my place for multiple Bible Studies I'm doing. This has been one of the biggest surprises of owning a PDA. I never knew it was possible to have the Bible with me all the time (without carrying the paper Bible) |
| AutoBase | I tried several Automobile programs (more than I listed above) before I found this one. I am very pleased with it and can't believe it is free and IMHO better than some that require purchase. I use this to track automobile gas mileage and maintenance. It automatically pops up a message and tells me it is time to change the oil (based on mileage), rotate the tires, etc. I know to the penny what driving is costing me. I like knowing the MPG and comparing the difference between different grades of gas and stations. |
| Pocket Quicken | This synch's directly into Quicken on our PC. As I spend $$ during the day, it only takes a few strokes of the stylus to record it into Pocket Quicken. When I synch to my PC at night, it automatically enters it into Quicken on the PC. Very slick. Version 2 of Pocket Quicken is a HUGE improvement. Now I can do financial and budget review/modifications without sitting in front of the PC. |
| Tiny Sheets | Excel is one of my favorite and frequently used software packages on the PC. Tiny Sheets allows me to carry my Excel spreadsheets with me and modify them on-the-go. |
| Checklist Lite | I love the simplicity and usefulness of this Checklist. This is a great place to keep my reoccuring lists, I check the tasks (cards) off as they are accomplished - when everything is done - it is easy to reset the list and it is ready to be used again. This is another one of those "I can't believe this is free" software! |
| 4T Medical | I use this to store all our family medical information. Who is allergy to what. Who is taking what med's. Who see's which doctor for what illness. When was the last appointment. I'm not sure I am totally pleased with this software, but I haven't spent a lot of time with it. It works well and it is free. What else would I want? *shrugging shoulders* |
| Eat Watch | I love the Hackers exercise plan and do it most everyday. This software was written to track the progress of it. Each morning I record my weight and it automatically charts it and computes trends for weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly. Fantastic software but especially if you are doing the Hacker's exercise plan. |
| HandyShopper | I use this for a multitude of things. All of the templates were downloaded from the HandyShopper yahoo group for free and they were ready to immediately start using. Some of my favorite uses are Shopping list, Greeting Cards to mail, Presents bought and to buy, Garden planned and planted, Meal Planner (just downloaded it but it looks good) I also downloaded the Cleaning Card template. I am debating on using it for the SHE cards. I haven't made up my mind yet. |
| Mobile DB Lite | I love databases! At the moment, I am not using this software for anything. ::GASP:: I have several ideas, but just need the time to implement them. This software should work perfect to support my PDA database ideas. |
| BigClock | When I am away from my SHE timer - this works perfect in it's place. It is a HUGE digital countdown/countup timer. It has multiple alarms, multiple times, easy to use and FREE! |
| Price Book | I love the Tightwad Gazette books by Amy Dacyczyn. If you have read her books, you know about the magic and usefulness of the Price book. I am not utilizing this totally - but I have it implemented and am adding to it slowly. |
| CalDate | I use this software to tell me how many days until I can retire. *grin* It calculates a number of things about dates. |
| FloChart | I have tried several "Women Monthly" tracking software. This is the one I am using until I find one I like better. |
| Event Manager | I put our extended family and friends birthday and anniversary dates into this. It tells me how many days until the next event. I am not toally pleased with this package because I can't see ALL the categories listed together. It is useful - but I am on the look-out for software that does the same thing - just a little better. |
